Another great thrift store find! This women's dress was too small for me to refashion for myself, but it was perfect for my little one. This was the easiest refashion yet. This style dress is called a pillowcase dress. There are many free tutorials available online.
I cut the top bodice off, cut an armhole area. I then sewed the armhole opening. I serged the top front and back. I then folded it over and sewed it in order to allow the ribbon to go through.
The bottom was cut at an angle, so I just cut it straight across and hemmed it. The fit was perfect without having to take it in at all!
Of course I had to make a matching bow for her hair. I cut a rectangluar piece of fabric, folded it in half leaving a 2 inch opening in the top middle to allow to turn it inside out. I then tied it in the middle and wrapped a piece if the original spaghetti strap around it. I hot glued the strap and an alligator clip, and I was done!
Now we just need to go to Hawaii 😃.
